Jerry & Jemma Desert Engagement Portrait Session - Escondido, CA

There’s something truly magical about the desert during sunset. The way the light rests gently on overlapping hills is immensely beautiful beyond words. There was no doubt in my mind that the Desert Theatre Nursery in Escondido, California was the perfect place to photograph Jerry and Jemma’s engagement.

Since the two are planning a destination wedding in Play Del Carmen, Mexico, it was only fitting to hit the desert for a Mexican themed shoot. There were cacti, bright colored flowers, and even some tequila shots.

We can’t wait for the real deal in January!  Hair and Make-up by Jane Prudencio

Michael and Pauline Same Day Edit June 2016

There’s nothing quite like getting the pre-wedding jitters. As a married couple ourselves, we’ve experienced this feeling firsthand. For several months you stress and plan for this special day and now it’s finally here! An overabundance of mixed emotions comes at you like a wave, but it’s exhilarating nonetheless. Ask any married couple—they’ll tell you it’s a rush you’ll never forget!

For Mark and Pauline, we really wanted to showcase the making of a happily ever after. We shot the beginning scenes at St. John Baptist De La Salle Church in Granada Hills. This location is very near and dear to the groom’s and Archi’s heart. This parish is actually where the two friends went to elementary school.

The remaining scenes were shot a few miles down at The Vineyards in Simi Valley. As you can see from the charming reception footage, smiles never left the faces of the newlyweds and guests.

To us, this wedding was like witnessing a fairy tale come to reality.

Congratulations, Mark and Pauline!

FKJ - "Higher in Love"

What do you get when you mix the bustling upbeat vibes of the city, the freshness of lush towering trees, and the gaping depth of the desert?  You get the “Higher in Love” music video.

This collaborative work of art was shot in five days and set in five magnificent locations: Bishop, CA, Yosemite National Park, Death Valley, Mono Lake, and Mammoth.

As per usual, Archi contributed to some behind-the-camera work, while Jane took lead in hair and make-up.

Since this was a quick yet large production, we had help from several talented artists. Without them, this video wouldn’t be as visually stimulating and soulful as it is.

So kick your feet back, relax, and allow FKJ to take you on a journey of adventure, exploration, and bliss.

Destination Wedding Chicago Drake Hotel

One of the many perks of having a job like ours is the opportunity to travel. We are always thrilled to change settings and experience a new environment. For this project, I was invited to shoot Dinara and Mohammed’s wedding in Chicago.

This was my first time visiting the lovely Windy City. Though it was April, it was still very cold, and snowed on the couple’s wedding day. But snow or storm, Dinara and Mohammed didn’t seem to mind the weather. They are Chicagoans after all!

When it got too chilly to shoot outdoors, Dinara’s maid of honor, Bon, suggested a change of scenery. A friend of hers was working at the Art Institute of Chicago and offered the space as another shooting location. When we arrived, we were completely blown away by the architecture of the building and the rooftop area with a fantastic view of the skyline.

At that moment, it was still too nippy outside but I couldn’t help but seize the moment. I asked the couple if they were willing to stay out for a few shots, and they happily obliged.

Just when I began to point my camera at the two, snow started falling from the sky. I was so happy I was able to capture Dinara and Mohammed’s genuine reaction. It’s times like these when I realize how amazing my job truly is.

Raskin Family Maternity Portraits

Celebrating family has always been the essence of who we are. So it comes to no surprise how delighted we become when our good friends share news that they’re expecting.

David, Cherry, their beautiful daughter, Skyla, and baby number #2 posed perfectly during the golden hour at O’Melvyn Park in Granada Hills. Having grown up in this neighborhood and creating fond memories in this area as a child, Archi found this location fitting for the new family of 4.

For this shoot, we really wanted to capture the excitement and elation parenthood brings. Lucky for us, the Raskin’s were naturals at highlighting these feelings on camera. The positive energy coming from their intimacy and smiles were equally contagious and admirable.

From one happy parents to another, congratulations! We can’t wait to meet your new baby!
